INTERVIEW With FitGirl.Sara

Can you introduce yourself to our readers?

My name is Sara, I am 20 years old, I study business administration and live in Germany.

Have you always been dedicated to fitness or was it a more recent change?

I always loved being active, doing sports, I started dancing when I was three years old and during my childhood I tried out almost every kind of sports you can imagine. But in the end I always knew that there is nothing that gets me more than dancing. So to be honest fitness was never really important to me, but one year ago I discovered my passion for fitness. Of course I went to the gym before, but without any special goals and doing the typical "girls stuff" I was pretty bored.

Then last year, when I came back from my travels in Australia, where I gained lots of weight, I really wanted it chance something, I had a goal and some pounds too much which gave me a good basis to build muscle pretty fast. Since I do weightlifting and see the success the gym isn't even a little bit boring anymore, it has become my second home.

Can you tell us about your workout routine?

I workout about six times a week, I tried to rest on Sundays but sometimes it's kinda hard and I really have to remind myself that my body needs time to recover. I train the different groups of muscles on separate days.

Who do you take inspiration from? Can you name three celebrities whose physiques you respect?

Of course there are lots of famous women which look great and are really inspirational, but to be honest, I don't really take my motivation and inspiration from famous people, I love following the changes and progresses of normal people, just like me, I am always happy if I find someone I am not already following who shares his or hers successes and struggles and I love to observe how people become happy and confident and fit.

Do you do any sports?

I love lifting and working out, but in the first place I am a dancer, I dance in a great team and we are booked about 50 times a year as an act on big events, so it's pretty time-consuming, but I absolutely love it.

Do you feel that there is beginning to be a change in the media’s image of the female body and is that change for the better?

I am assured that there's a change in the medias image of the female body, there is a big trend towards fitness and fit women are also becoming more and more attractive. In my opinion it's a good kind of change because living healthy and fit is so much better as a role model that being as thin and skinny as possible.

What do you think of as your biggest accomplishment in fitness?

I was always struggling with my knees, sometimes they hurt so bad that I couldn't even move and I was really afraid that I could never train as hard again as I did before. But I never gave up, and though the doctors still are skeptical, I am confident, I am back in training and I won't give up!

What music do you like?

I like almost every kind of music. Most of the time I listen to the radio. But to motivate myself during my workout, I love listening to Linkin Park or Eminem.

Tell us about your online presence.

Unfortunately I don't have the time to write a blog, but you can follow me on Instagram, fitgirl.sara to follow my fitness journey, to see my changes and how I motivate myself.

Is there anything else you’d like to tell the fans

The most important thing is to never give up and to always believe in yourself, no matter where you are now, it's your turn to get where you want to be and no matter how long it takes if you focus your goals you'll be able to reach anything you're dreaming of.
